Thousands of pounds worth of savings available

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

The government recently added a closing date of 24th March 2024 onto all government grants available for businesses

who want to install EV chargers at their workplace. These grants provide vital financial support for business looking to future proof their premises and to offer chargepoints to staff and visitors.

One grant in particular that is extremely useful is the EV Infrastructure Grant for staff and fleets. Here we explain the savings available with this grant and what work is needed to qualify.

This grant provides financial support both for fitting chargepoints but also (as the title suggests) the infrastructure work for future units down the line. For example, a business that wants 10 EV charge bays may

only want to install four initially, to see how the adoption process goes. They do however acknowledge that they will require future units as more and more employees drive plug-in vehicles. With the EV Infrastructure Grant, they can claim up to £350 off each chargepoint as well as up to £500 off each future parking bay, meaning a combined saving of £4,400 (4x £350 off each chargepoint and 6 x £500 off each parking bay that will have a chargepoint fitted at a later date)

Applying for these grants is quite straight forward. By visiting the government website customers are required to complete a short application form. Once the application is successful a voucher code is provided, which must be sent onto the installation company (prior to work starting) who claim the voucher using that code once the installation work is completed.

To make the process seamless for customers, installers will invoice for the work with the grant money deducted. Meaning once you have claimed that voucher there is no more paperwork to be filled out!

This grant is perfect for businesses looking to transition their fleet of company vehicles into electric or plug-in hybrids. It enables the business owner to fit a handful of chargers but having that peace of mind that minimal work will need to be carried out in the future, if and when more chargepoints are required as the main bulk of work, such as ducting and a new distribution board is already in place.

With the closing date for these grants just over a year away, now is great time to consider looking at fitting some chargepoints at your premises. We offer a free survey and quotation and, with in-house expertise we can offer a solution that works for your business.
